Allegheny Valley Association of Churches accepting donations for food bank
Donations are welcome for the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches food bank in Harrison.
Items most needed include canned meat, tuna and chicken, spaghetti sauce, sugar-free items, gluten-free items, toiletries, feminine products, cleaning supplies, baby formula and Ensure. Holiday cooking ingredients such as stuffing mix, canned sweet potatoes, gravy mix and baking supplies are also needed this time of year. Drop-off times are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the office, 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights.

New Kensington holiday event seeks parade participants
The New Kensington Recreation Committee is accepting applications from groups, fire departments, clubs and organizations to march in the Dec. 4 Christmas parade in the city.

Toys for Tots sign-ups scheduled
Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots served by the Allegheny Valley Detachment will have sign-ups online through Nov. 30.
The Allegheny Valley Detachment serves children in northeastern Allegheny, western Westmoreland and Armstrong counties. Only parents or legal guardians can sign up. If your child is younger than one year, please indicate their age in months in the notes area. To register your child, visit Tarentum-pa.toysfortots.org.

Salvation Army free lunch distribution offered Thursday
The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center in Brackenridge offers free grab and go lunches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave.
