A-K Hope Center event to mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month

The Alle-Kiski HOPE Center will host “An Evening of Hope” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at Hill Crest Country Club, 3411 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell.

The event is to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month. There will be a buffet dinner, activities and speakers. Luminaries can be purchased for $10 each for survivors, support systems, in memory of those who lost their lives and in honor of those who are being abused. Entries sought for annual Harrison holiday parade

The Harrison Recreation Board is seeking organizations, businesses and individuals who would like to participate in the annual Christmas parade scheduled Dec. 6.

Chamber music concert set Sunday in Tarentum

Central Presbyterian Church in Tarentum will kick off its 11th season of Academy Concerts at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, 305 Allegheny St.

The Academy String Quartet will perform a program, “Friends of Ukraine” that salutes the nations that have supported Ukraine in its struggle. Donations will be accepted for the Vovk Foundation to support Ukrainian children who have lost a parent in the war.

Free hot dogs, “Father Frank’s Franks” will be served in honor of former pastor, the late Rev. Frank Yesko. Pets and their owners are welcome to attend the 5:30 p.m. worship service where they may receive a blessing. Weather permitting, the service will be outside. Leashed pets welcome. Oct. 27: Springdale Free Public Library is accepting orders for pies and pumpkin rolls from The Pie Shoppe in Laughlintown. Varieties: chocolate meringue, coconut cream meringue, lemon meringue, apple, blackberry, cherry, Dutch apple, harvest, peach, raisin, razzleberry and pumpkin pies, and pumpkin rolls, all $12.
