Veterans parade planned at Mary Queen of Apostles School

Mary Queen of Apostles School, New Kensington, invites all veterans to participate in a Salute to Veterans Reverse Parade at 1 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Greenwald school, 110 Elmtree Road.

Veterans are invited to drive by the school and students in fourth through eighth grade will wave flags and play patriotic music during the procession.

Library local history department open for research

The Local History department at Community Library of Allegheny Valley in Harrison now offers appointments to access library resources.

Appointments are available from noon to 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Access will be available to all local history resources including a computer, the microfilm reader and personal research assistance.

Knead Community Café accepting donations

Knead Community Café, New Kensington, is accepting donations to help the daily operation of the café, 1011 Barnes St.

Items on the café’s wish list include: antibacterial hand sanitizer and refills, Clorox wipes, disposable latex or nitrile gloves size large or one-size-fits-all, paper towels, white premium napkins, 8x8-inch or 9x9-inch single compartment Styrofoam hinged takeout containers, premium plastic forks and knives and Sam’s Club gift cards.

Donations will be accepted during business hours 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
