Harvest Festival set Saturday in Lower Burrell
The Lower Burrell Harvest Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday in the city.
The farmers market will have its last event of the year from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of Bon Air School, Leechburg Road. There will be music, crafters and vendors. A free yoga class for beginners will be in the softball field behind the market. Bring a mat and water.
A car show will be from 2 to 8 p.m. in the school parking lot. Vehicle entry fee is $5. There will be door prizes, a DJ, a basket raffle, food trucks and a 50-50.
More activities will be from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Burrell High School parking lot on Puckety Church Road. There will be vendors, music, entertainment, a cornhole challenge and bingo. Children’s activities will include free crafts, small carnival games, a scavenger hunt and bounce house. Event T-shirts will be sold for $14.
New pickleball courts to open at Freeport Community Park
Alle-Kiski Pickleball Inc. will celebrate the grand opening of the six new courts at Freeport Community Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the courts.
There will be a kids court, skill games, music, paddle demos, food, giveaways, free play and a 50-50.
Concordia to celebrate Oktoberfest
Concordia Lutheran Ministries’ annual Oktoberfest will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Haven I, 112 Marwood Road, Jefferson.
A German-themed menu will be offered including pork roast, kielbasa and and sauerkraut, bratwurst, apple cider and more. Children 12 and younger receive a free food voucher and there will be free children’s activities. Entertainment will be by the Mikey Dee Polka Band from 4 to 7:30 p.m. A fireworks display will end the day at 7:45 p.m.

Items collected will be given to district students to take home over the weekend in their backpacks via the Backpack Friday Outreach. Items needed include applesauce cups, ramen noodles, boxed macaroni and cheese, fruit snacks, and canned soup, ravioli and spaghetti. Cash will also be accepted.
West Leechburg
Oct. 21: Lower Burrell American Legion will sponsor a gun and cash bash from noon to 5 p.m. at West Leechburg Volunteer Fire Department Recreation Hall, 1116 Gosser St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Cost: $25, includes food and beverages. Winners need not be present. Tickets: stop in at the American Legion Post., 1100 Wildlife Lodge Road.
