Campfire ghost story events planned in Allegheny County parks
Allegheny County Parks Department will host four nights of Campfire Ghost Stories during October. All events begin at 7 p.m.
Dates and locations are:
• Sunday at the Carp Shelter in Deer Lakes Park, West Deer.
• Oct. 17 in the Yakaon Shelter in Harrison Hills Park, Harrison.
• Oct. 24 in the Commissioners Shelter in Boyce Park, Plum.
• Oct. 25 at Hartwood Acres Mansion, Indiana Township
Listen to spooky stories and songs by the glow of a roaring campfire. Wear a costume for a chance to win a prize. Physical distancing will be observed and face masks are required.

Big ‘K’ Cruise-In slated for Sunday
The 16th Annual Big “K” Cruise-In will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in Allegheny Plaza, 500 Hyde Park Road, Allegheny Township. Gates open at 9 a.m. for exhibitors.
There will be a DJ and food. Vehicle entry fee is $10 each; admission for spectators, $1. Proceeds will benefit the district instrumental music program.

Driver license, photos centers closed for Columbus Day
All PennDOT driver license and photos centers will be closed Saturday through Monday in observance of Columbus Day.
Customers may still obtain driver and vehicle products and services online at dmv.pa.gov. There are no additional fees for using online services.

Today: Kiski Township Volunteer Firemen will host a take-out Food Extravaganza from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the firehall, 1037 Route 56. Pull into the parking lot, exit your vehicle and select from four food stations set up in the truck bays. Menu: station 1: Italian sausage sandwich and macaroni and cheese; station 2: chicken tenders, fries, hot dogs with sauerkraut; station 3: Philly steak cheese fries, bacon and cheddar cheese fries; and station 4: chili and wedding soup.
Kittanning
Sunday: Armstrong County Historical Society Museum will host an antiques engine show from noon to 3 p.m. at the museum, 300 N. Saturday: The ClothesLine ministry at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 3084 Leechburg Road, will be outdoors from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the event will be indoors and there will be temperature screenings and limited admittance. There will be ultimate Frisbee, gaga ball, angle ball, interactive camp cooking, mountain pies, s’mores and a movie on a big screen.

Oct. 17: The Kevin Haas Memorial Truck and Tractor Pull will be at South Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department, 100 Fire Hall Road. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Tractors will begin at noon and trucks will start at 5 p.m. There will be a car show from noon to 8 p.m. Car show registration: $10. Free admission and parking. There will be a basket raffle, concession stand and 50/50 raffle. Proceeds will be donated to a trust fund for Haas’ daughter. Concession proceeds will benefit the fire department.
