Vandergrift No. 1 VFD 125th anniversary celebration set Saturday

The George G. McMurtry Vandergrift No. 1 Volunteer Fire Department 125th anniversary parade and celebration will be from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday in the borough.

The parade will begin at noon on Longfellow Street and end at the bottom of Grant Avenue. A battle of the barrel with 16 teams will begin after the parade at the firehall, 278 Franklin Ave. There will be food trucks, beer, T-shirts and a 50/50 raffle and the bands Amber Alexis and 50 Second Knockout will perform from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

Ruth Becker of Harrison would like to thank all those who organized and attended the Har-Brack High School Class of 1960 reunion held recently at Buffalo Golf Course. Forty-seven people attended and class member Tom Henschel discussed his perfect attendance to all of the Super Bowl games. Special thanks to Jim and Joyce Vorp who headed up the committee.
