Drive-through food distribution set Tuesday at Pittsburgh Mills

Allegheny Valley Association of Churches and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will host a drive-thru food distribution for anyone in need from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in parking lot of the former JC Penney store at the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills, Frazer.

Reservations are no longer required. Guests should remain in their vehicles and open their door or trunk and will be served on a first come, first served basis.

Guests will complete a short registration process onsite. Each household must complete an annual self-declaration of need form to receive food.

StoryWalk continues in garden area of Oakmont Carnegie Library

Oakmont Carnegie Library is sponsoring a free Storywalk through Sept. 29 in the Allegheny River Blvd. side of the library’s outdoor garden, 700 Allegheny River Blvd.

Visitors can read the story, “A Stone Sat Still,” by Brendan Wenzel page by page as they stroll around the outdoor path.

Painting to be displayed at veteran suicide awareness event

A veteran suicide awareness event will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Plum American Legion, 7824 Saltsburg Road.

A 6-foot-tall painting depicting a solitary green horse on a white background created by National Archive artists David Williams and Hailee Steinebach in memory of veterans lost to suicide is being escorted from Neah Bay, Wash., to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., and is making stops along the way. At each stop veterans and their families will be invited to add their names to the back of the artwork. Upon arriving in Washington, D.C., it will be donated to the nation.
