11th annual Tails on the Trails walk planned Sept. 26
The 11th annual Tails on the Trails dog walk to benefit Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 26 at Northmoreland Park, Allegheny Township.
Participants should meet at Pavilion 11 by the lake, 280 Markle Road. Registration is at 10 a.m. and at 11 a.m. there will be a Blessing of the Pets ceremony. Food and drinks will be served at 12:30 p.m. and games activities with your dog will be afterward.
Cost is $25 and reservations are required. No walk-ins will be accepted. For reservations, click here.
Dollar dinner scheduled Wednesday in Vandergrift
First United Methodist Church, 134 Custer St., will serve a grab-and-go Dollar Dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church.
The menu will include sloppy joes, chips, pudding cups and drink, all for $1. Curbside pickup is available on the Lincoln Avenue side of the church.
Clothing Closet at Central Presbyterian Church accepting donations
The Clothing Closet at Central Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, is accepting donations of clothing for men, women and children, as well as purses, shoes and belts.
Donations will be accepted during Closet operating hours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the church, 305 Allegheny St., and by appointment.

Free grab and go lunch offered Wednesday at Allegheny Valley Church of God
Allegheny Valley Church of God, 216 Catalpa St., New Kensington, will serve free grab and go lunches at noon Wednesday.

The Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open to anyone in need from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights, Harrison.

Food Truck event planned Wednesday in Apollo
The Wheel Good Wednesday food truck event sponsored by the Apollo Events Committee and Apollo Area Historical Society will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the old Stanford lot on Clifford Avenue.
This week’s truck lineup will include Hoshi, Revival Chili, Haczor Ravioli Co., DelVecchio’s Sausage, Doughtastic Sandwiches, PghCrepes, Rollin Up and Earth Wheel and Fire Pizza.
