Avonmore to celebrate annual Harvest Jubilee

The annual Avonmore Harvest Jubilee will be Friday and Saturday in the borough.

Hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday. Saturday’s activities will begin with a parade at 1 p.m. Registration and lineup will begin at 11 a.m. at 616 Cambria Ave. There will be polka music at 2 p.m. by the Skovenski Orchestra, and performances by Standard Heist, Dave and Pat and the Thieves will be afterward, all on the main stage.

There will be a bounce house, bingo, a rock wall, strolling magicians and fire shows. A fireworks display will be at 10 p.m. Saturday. For a complete schedule, visit Avonmore Community Association on Facebook.


Pink Day festival planned Saturday in downtown Leechburg

Leechburg’s 12th annual Pink Day Celebration and Fundraiser to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on Market Street in Leechburg.

The event will involve organizations and businesses throughout the borough. Performances scheduled at the stage at Market and Second streets include Risen to Save, Ms. Freddye and her Blues Band, Right Turn Clyde, TKO and the Lenny Collini Family Pak.

A free Kids Zone will open at 10 a.m. at Kiski Valley Community Church, 219 Market St. A foam party will be at 4 p.m. in front of Chuck Smith Flooring on Market Street. Bring a towel.

Oktoberfest planned Saturday in Vandergrift

Vandergrift Business Association will sponsor an Oktoberfest from noon to 9 p.m. on Grant Avenue in the downtown area.

There will be a stein-holding competition, food trucks, vendors and a corn hole tournament from 5 to 7 p.m. Music will be by accordion player Pat Septak at 1 p.m., the Kiski Valley Community Band at 3 p.m., Barons Light at 5 p.m. and the Polkameisters at 7 p.m. Dance group the Schuhplattlers will entertain between sets.


Bingo fundraiser to benefit New Ken K9 Unit

A bingo to benefit the New Kensington Police K9 Unit will be Saturday at VooDoo Brewing Co., 956 Fifth Ave., New Kensington.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and bingo with open seating will start at 7 p.m. There will be 10 rounds of bingo hosted by Picking the Brain Trivia, food, signature cocktails, an opportunity to meet the dogs and a 50/50 raffle. Saturday: Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church will have its free takeout monthly Pot Love Dinner at noon at the church, 271 Main St. Reservations required.
