Free concerts planned this weekend in Freeport
Freeport Renaissance Association will sponsor two free outdoor concerts this weekend in Riverside Park, Freeport.
Let’s Duet will present classic soft rock at 7 p.m. Friday. At 7 p.m. Saturday, Jordan McLaughlin and the Fourth Hour will offer country rock.
Those attending are encouraged to wear face masks and observe social distancing.
Pot Love Dinner planned Saturday in Leechburg
Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church, Leechburg, will host its monthly free Pot Love Dinner at noon Saturday at the church, 271 Main St.
The event will be takeout only and reservations are required by noon Friday. There is a limit of one dinner per family member. Those with reservations will be served first. For reservations, call 724-845-1901 or email church@crcpc.org.
Line-up will be outside and social distancing must be observed.
Free movie in the park set for Kunkle Park
A free screening of the movie, “Monsters University” rated G, will be at dusk Friday in Kunkle Park, Washington Township.
Bring chairs, blankets and snacks. There will be concessions, crafts for children and the Kona Ice truck will be on site.
The event is sponsored by Friends of Scout Pack 500 in cooperation with Washington Township Supervisors.
Casino Theatre seeking donations
The Casino Theater in Vandergrift is seeking donations to help with the upkeep and maintenance of the theater during the current pandemic.
Since mid-March six shows at the theater have been canceled, but the costs of maintenance and utility bills continue to come in. Revenue lost from these performances could top $25,000.
The theater is marking its 120th anniversary this year and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Donations can be sent to Casino Theatre Restoration and Management, 145 Lincoln Ave., PO Box 202, Vandergrift PA 15690. Contributions are fully tax deductible.
‘Harwick Remembered’ book on sale at Springdale Library
Springdale Free Public Library is selling copies of the new book, “Harwick Remembered,” by Carroll Gagliardi Lund.
The book includes photographs and interviews with many of the Harwick village people. Cost is $25 plus tax.

Proceeds will benefit the library.
Free movie to be screened at Hartwood Acres Park
The free Allegheny County Date Night Drive-In Movie series will feature the film, “La La Land,” rated PG-13, at sundown Friday at Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater parking lot, Indiana Township.
Gates open at 7 p.m. Attendance is limited to the first 300 vehicles so plan to arrive early. Movie audio is played through a radio transmitter on 87.9 FM.
