Freeport to celebrate September By the River

Freeport Renaissance Association will host its September By The River Festival from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday in Riverside Park.

There will be raffles, food, vendors and children’s games each day. There will be entertainment in the park gazebo each day including the Family Tradition Band from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and the Kiski Valley Community Band at noon Sunday.

Freeport Area Library will have a New to You sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the library, 428 Market St.

Burtner House to mark 200th birthday

Burtner House Restoration Society will celebrate the 200th birthday of the homestead at a festival from noon to 6 p.m. at the homestead, 965 Burtner Road, Natrona Heights, Harrison.

Free admission. There will be free cupcakes while they last, a flag ceremony by local Boy Scouts, bluegrass bands, food trucks, basket raffles and tours of the homestead. Free parking will be available on the dirt section of the parking lot of Citizens Hose Fire Hall, Burtner Road, with free shuttle service to the festival. No parking is available at the homestead.

Cash bash planned Saturday in East Vandergrift

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in East Vandergrift will host a Cash Bash at 7 p.m. Saturday in the parish social hall., 420 McKinley Ave.

Doors open at 5 p.m. There will be pull tabs, 50/50 raffles and a basket raffle.

Admission is $25 and includes food, beverages and chances to win $3,000 in prizes. Must be at least 21 to attend. For tickets, call Crystal at 724-882-9212, or stop in the parish office or in the church vestibule after Sunday Mass.

Leechburg Pink Festival to raise funds for breast cancer research

The 10th annual Leechburg Pink Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on Market Street in Leechburg.

There will be music and entertainment at stages at Market and Second streets and Freedom Square, horse and buggy rides, a basket raffle, a Kids Zone at Kiski Valley Community Church, a foam party at 3:30 p.m. and craft and food vendors. Proceeds benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
