A-K Band Festival set Tuesday

The annual Alle-Kiski Marching Band Festival will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kiski Area High School Stadium, 240 Hyde Park Road, Allegheny Township.

Schools participating in the non-competitive event include Burrell, Deer Lakes, Freeport Area, Highlands, Kiski Area, Leechburg Area, Penn Hills, Plum, Springdale and Valley.

Gates open at 6 p.m. Admission is $5. Rain date is Wednesday.

Participants sought for benefit walk

Apollo Area Churches will sponsor the area CROP Walk at 2 p.m. Oct. 3 on the Roaring Run Trail, Kiski Township.

Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the trail. Walkers and sponsors are needed for the benefit to help end world hunger.

If you have any questions or for information, contact coordinator Diane Baer at 724-478-1786. In 2020, over $1,000 from the proceeds was donated back to the Apollo-Ridge Food Bank.

Today: Arnold No. 2 Auxiliary and Arnold Fireman’s Band will host a luncheon bingo at 1:30 p.m. in the Arnold Social Center, 1702 Fifth Ave. Doors open at noon. Cost: $6, includes light lunch and one lapboard. Players must be at least 12 years old.

Today: Kelly Station Sportsman’s Club will host a lucky turkey shotgun shoot from 1 to 3 p.m. at the club, 657 Logansport Road. Winners of each round will receive a turkey, ham or special prize. Ten rounds are shot from 30 yards for $3 per round. Limited to .12- and .20-gauge shotguns, the club will provide the shells. Food and drinks will be sold and tours of the club and membership information will be available.

Brackenridge

Wednesdays: Al-Anon will meet at 8 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 847 10th Ave. The group offers help and hope for families and friends of alcoholics.

Fawn

Today: The Alle-Kiski Valley Historical Society’s Flea-Tique antique and collectible show will be from daybreak to 1 p.m. at the Bull Creek Tour-Ed Mine site, off Bull Creek Road. Rain or shine. Today: A Homeless Vets Awareness Day will be from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars, 894 Veterans Way.
