Holiday toy help available for local families
Allegheny Valley Salvation Army in Brackenridge is accepting registrations for its children’s Christmas toy distribution.
Children must be 13 or younger and live in the following zip codes, 15006., 15014. 15030, 15032, 15049, 15065, 15075, 15076, 15084 and 15238.
Toy pickup dates and times will be assigned upon registration. To register call 724-224-6310, ext. 1. Deadline to register is Dec. 5.
Donations welcome for Leechburg PATH program
The Leechburg Food Bank and Leechburg Area School District sponsor the Providing Alternatives to Hunger “PATH” program for children in the district. The program provides a weekend bag of nourishing food and supplements to the free or reduced lunch program children receive during the week.
To donate, mail a check made out to Leechburg Food Bank with “Community PATH” in the memo area to Leechburg Food Bank Treasurer, P.O. Box 127, Leechburg PA 15656. To sponsor a child, send a note with your check and include the name and address of the sponsor. Each child’s PATH bag costs $4 per week. Each child receives one bag per week, 50 weeks of the year.
Help needed by Animal Protectors to cover plumbing bill
Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley recently had a water leak at the main valve that goes into their building in New Kensington.
The water bill will be high and repairs were competed for an estimated cost of $2,500. Donations are being accepted to help with these unexpected expenses.
