Outdoor concert to benefit Lighthouse Foundation

Saxonburg Memorial Presbyterian Church will present opera singer Marianne Cornetti in concert at 4 p.m. Saturday outdoors in Roebling Park, Saxonburg.

Piano accompaniment will be by Bryan Sable. Admission is $20 and proceeds will benefit the Lighthouse Foundation Christian outreach organization that helps individuals and families in northern Allegheny and Butler County. Bring a chair. Rain date is Sunday.

Memorial bike outing planned Saturday

A bike run in memory of Jerry “Bull” Baylor will be Saturday at Mogie’s Irish Pub, 3210 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell.

Check-in will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Cost is $20 for riders and $10 for passengers. Afterward there will be food, drinks, basket raffles and a 50/50 raffle. A Marine veteran, Baylor died Aug. 27 and proceeds will benefit his family.

The event is sponsored by the Original Family Motorcycle Club and Five Forces. To register, call Mike LaRussa at 724-980-8794.


Free movie to be screened at Hartwood Acres

The free Allegheny County Family Drive-in Movie Saturday in the Hartwood Acres Amphitheater will be, “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil,” rated PG.

Gates open at 7 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk. There is a 300-vehicle limit, first-come, first served. Refreshments will be available. The event is sponsored by the Allegheny Regional Asset District.

Items will include handmade fall and winter decorations, Steeler items, tea towels, hot pads, scrubbies and face masks for children and adults. Fabric donations will be accepted. The group makes quilts for the homeless.

Oct. 1: Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley is taking orders for a Fat Cat’s Subs hoagie sale. Varieties: Italian, turkey and ham and cheese. Cost: $8, cash or check payable at pickup.
