Fashion show to benefit Concordia Good Samaritan Fund

Concordia Lutheran Ministries will hold its annual fashion show and luncheon Oct. 23 at Butler Country Club, 310 Country Club Road, Butler.

This year’s theme is, “Pearls and Lace.” Check-in will be at 10 a.m. and there will be vendor mall shopping, a mystery bag sale and a basket auction. A hot lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m. Admission is $40 and seating is limited.

Reservations are required by Thursday. Proceeds benefit the Concordia Good Samaritan Endowment Fund that provides charitable care to residents and patients in need. For reservations, call 724-352-1571, ext. 8355 or visit the events and news page at ConcordiaLM.org.


Pajamas, slippers and socks requested by HOPE Center

The Alle-Kiski HOPE Center is seeking donations of new men’s and women’s pajamas and slippers and women’s socks.

All sizes are needed. Donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the administration office, 500 E. Eighth Ave., Tarentum. If you are ordering online, request delivery to this address. For details, call 724-224-1100.


Groups, individuals welcome to help keep Pennsylvania beautiful

Pennsylvania businesses, groups, organizations and individuals are invited to participate in the Keep American Beautiful Road and Area Adoption Program.

The program is available statewide for municipal roads, parks, neighborhood blocks, greenways, waterways and trails. The adopting group commits to keeping their area or road clean by conducting a litter cleanup twice per year. Free supplies are available. A sign recognizing the volunteers’ efforts and adopting group is provided.

Salvation Army free lunch distribution offered Thursday

The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center in Brackenridge offers free grab and go lunches from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave.
