Super bingo planned Oct. 1 in Gilpin

Christ the King and St. Gertrude Parishes will host a super bingo at 7 p.m. Oct. 1 in the Christ the King Church hall, 125 Park Road, Gilpin.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $30 and includes one lap board, food, beer and refreshments. Extra boards will be sold for $10 each at the door and there will be a basket auction, strip tickets and a 50/50. Bring chips and daubers. Those attending must be at least 21.

Psychology professor to discuss mental health and society

Allegheny-Kiski Health Foundation will present a free program, “Exploring the Nature of Mental Health and the True Impact on Violence and Society,” from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 14 in the William and Grayce Walker Conference Room at the foundation offices, 1 Acee Drive, Harrison.

Dr. Angela Bloomquist, psychology professor and manager of the school psychology program at PennWest University will be the speaker. Topics will include underlying causes and backgrounds of extreme teen and young adult mental health issues.

West Deer event to raise money for Paws Across Pittsburgh shelter

The Strut with Your Mutt walk and vaccination clinic will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Bairdford Park baseball complex, 80 Maple Ave., West Deer.

The event is a walk and run event for dogs and their families and there will be food trucks, music, basket raffles, activity stations, games and vendors. Participants can fill out a sponsor form and win prizes for the highest amount raised. Cost is $15 and $10 for children.
