Youth hockey team to sponsor super bingo fundraiser

A super bingo to benefit the 2011 Aviators Youth Hockey Team will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Lower Burrell Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1601 Wildlife Lodge Road.

Doors open at noon. Cost is $45. There will be 16 regular games that will pay $100, four specials that will pay $200 and a final game that will pay $1,500. There will be concessions, a basket raffle, strip tickets and a 50-50.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. For tickets, call Amber at 412-251-1555. Proceeds will help with travel costs and tournament fees for the team.

Walk for Hunger seeking participants

A Walk for Hunger to benefit the Leechburg Food Bank and Community Providing Alternatives to Hunger (PATH) will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 5 on the new Leechburg Hiking Trail.

Participants will collect pledges and walk from the Leechburg Firehall to the former Bagdad plant of Allegheny Technologies in Gilpin and back. Food and refreshments will be available on the walk.

Free American Sign Language classes offered

Bethel United Methodist Church in Lower Burrell will offer a free beginner American Sign Language class from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays Oct. 2 to Nov. 6 at the church, 150 Alder St.
