Peoples Library plans annual wine fundraiser
The Peoples Library Adventure with Wine dinner will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 14 at the New Kensington library, 880 Barnes St.
Several wines will be paired with food presented by Hoffstot’s Cafe Monaco of Oakmont. Food stations will include antipasto, crostini, a salad, blackened fish tacos, apple cider pulled pork sliders and mini pumpkin sweet potato tarts.
Cost is $50 per person. There will be a basket raffle and 50-50, with proceeds to benefit the library. Reservations are required by 5 p.m. Oct. 9. Coat drive planned in Highlands School District
The sixth annual Winter-Ready Rams coat drive to benefit children in the Highlands School District will continue through Oct. 24.
New and gently-used children’s coats can be dropped off in bins outside the home concession stand during the home varsity and junior varsity football games and at bins at 200 Banbury Lane, 69 Spruce St., and 233 Chinkapin Drive, all in Harrison; and 309 Bridge St., Tarentum. Please ship online donations to the 200 Banbury Lane address.
Coats will be available at the Nov. 11 parent/teacher conferences at the schools.
Vandergrift VFW food drive planned through Sept. 30
The Vandergrift Veterans of Foreign Wars is collecting non-perishable food and monetary donations through Sept. 30 to benefit the Westmoreland County Food Bank.
Donations will be matched by the VFW Foundation, $1 for every pound of food or dollar that is collected. Contributions can be taken to the post, 141-143 Sumner Ave.
