A movie crew works at St. Thomas Episcopal Church along Delaware Avenue in Oakmont on Tuesday, March 22 . Oakmont will be used for several location shoots for filming of a movie starring Tom Hanks on Thursday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Portions of some Oakmont roads will be closed Thursday for filming of the Tom Hanks movie “A Man Called Otto.”

No parking or travel will be permitted on Delaware Avenue between Fifth Street and Isabella Way, and Fourth Street between Washington and Maryland avenues.

The closures will be from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Academy Award-winning actor is not expected to be in town.

“That was my first question when they called,” Borough Manager Scot Fodi said Tuesday after sending out text alerts about the road closures. “It’s different. It’s cool. We just wish Tom Hanks was here.”

The movie is the English-language adaptation of a 2015 Swedish comedy based on the best-selling 2012 novel by Fredrik Backman. Hanks plays the role of a ”cranky retired man (who) strikes up an unlikely friendship with his boisterous new neighbors,” according to IMDB.com.

Crews were seen setting up Tuesday afternoon at St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

Fodi said the movie company was to notify all impacted residents and property owners about Thursday’s activities.

No parking signs have been posted. Oakmont police will assist with traffic control.

Other filming locations this month included Ambridge, where Hanks took a break from the action to wave to a resident and her son. On Saturday, the Hollywood icon took photos with a wedding party outside the Fairmont Pittsburgh hotel.
