The Tribune-Review won 16 Golden Quill Awards for journalistic excellence — including a top prize — at The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania’s annual recognition held Tuesday at Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh.
The awards recognize written, visual, broadcast and online journalism during 2020.
The Trib had a total of 50 finalists.
The Trib won the Marie Torre Memorial Award in Video Journalism for its report “Tragedy at Brighton,” detailing problems dealing with a massive covid-19 outbreak at a Beaver County nursing home. The Torre award is for best in show in video journalism. It was given for the first time Tuesday night.
The award is named after legendary KDKA-TV reporter and news anchor Marie Torre, who died in 1997.
