Burrell School Board is expected to discuss bids submitted for the Buccaneer Stadium renovation project when it meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The board will likely make a final decision on whether to install artificial turf or natural grass at its March 17 regular meeting, according to board President Tricia Shank.

“We appreciate hearing from the groups interested in our decision,” Shank said. “We welcome them to participate when we review the bid information on Tuesday.”

Last year, the school board initially decided to install natural grass instead of artificial turf because it would be less expensive. Public pressure for artificial turf prompted the school board to review the options again.

Work scheduled to begin this spring includes installing a new track and fixing drainage problems that have deteriorated the track ringing the field and caused the natural grass field to lose its crown.
