TV shoot delayed to Friday in Vandergrift
Filming has been set back a day in Vandergrift for a new Apple TV+ series, tentatively titled “Parallax.”
Crews were originally set to film throughout the borough’s downtown Thursday, but series publicist Shelly Williams said cameras will likely now roll Friday.
Williams did not give a reason for the delay, but Councilwoman Marilee Kessler said it was likely weather-related.
In a letter addressed to residents, the crew said the filming would result in temporary no-parking zones from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout chunks of downtown, mostly around Washington, Grant and Columbia avenues.
Intermittent road closures between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. will also be in place in the same areas as well as 11th Avenue and 12th and Third streets, according to the letter.
Williams said some local people will be extras.
The letter said crews will work with residents and workers who need to enter or exit the filming area to “limit inconveniences” for local people.
The borough was previously turned into the fictional Banshee, Pa., in 2015 for Cinemax’s action series “Banshee.”
The series’ crews have worked throughout the region, including previous shoots in South Buffalo’s riverside Clinton neighborhood and upcoming ones in Leechburg.
“Parallax,” a placeholder name for the project, is based on crime novels by Lars Kepler — the pseudonym used by Swedish writers Alexander and Alexandra Ahndoril, a husband-and-wife team.
According to an Apple TV+ news release, the 10-part series follows a soldier-turned-detective who leaves Philadelphia for a quiet life in Western Pennsylvania. There, he becomes embroiled in the investigation into a local serial killer.
The show stars Liev Schreiber as Detective Jonah Lynn, Stephen Graham as serial killer Jurek Walter and Zazie Beetz as FBI agent Saga Bauer, who is Lynn’s adopted daughter. In addition to A+E, the series also will be developed by Range Studios.
