2 accused of selling drugs near children in Vandergrift house
An early morning raid in Vandergrift resulted in the arrest of two men on drug and child endangerment charges.
Lonnell Alexander Moore, 29, and Carlos Cordoba, 22, both of Sherman Avenue, were arrested Wednesday.
Police said they found four grams of cocaine and about a half-pound of marijuana inside the house when it was raided Wednesday at about 6 a.m. by members of the Westmoreland County drug task, including Vandergrift police, and an agent from the state Attorney General’s office, according to Vandergrift Patrolman Nathaniel Rigatti.
The raid happened about a week after police informants bought cocaine from the men three times between Aug. 1 and Aug. 25, police said. The child endangerment charge came about because, according to court papers, police found two young children living in the home and the drugs were found in areas where the children could reach them.
Rigatti said a handgun also was found inside the house.
District Judge Cheryl Peck Yakopec set bond at 10 percent of $5,000, or $500, for each man.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
