Vandergrift man accused of throwing water bottle at Pittsburgh police
A Vandergrift man is accused of throwing a bottle of water at police during a June 1 protest in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood.
A criminal complaint filed Monday said Benjamin Reynolds, 28, could be seen on a woman’s Facebook Live stream throwing a full bottle of water at police near Centre and South Negley avenues while officers were trying to move the crowd. He then could be seen fleeing between buildings along Centre Avenue, the complaint said.
Pittsburgh police charged Reynolds with aggravated assault, riot, propulsion of missiles, failure to disperse, disorderly conduct and obstruction of highways or other public passages.
Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. earlier this month directed charges to be withdrawn against 39 people in connection with protests over the death of George Floyd.
