A vehicle crashed into an Allegheny Township home, shearing a gas line early Thursday.

The home’s residents were evacuated, and Peoples Gas is evaluating the damage, according to Westmoreland County 911.

The crash in the 4700 block of Garvers Ferry Road happened shortly after 5 a.m. The vehicle hit the gas meter.

Medics treated the driver of the vehicle at the scene. Nobody was taken to a hospital, according to 911.

Peoples Gas spokesman Barry Kukovich said workers turned off the gas to evaluate the damage. Service to neighboring homes will not be affected.
