This year’s Monday Market will start at Plum Creek Park on New Texas Road and eventually move to the new Plum Municipal Center on Old Mine Road once amenities there are completed.

Vendors are being sought for the Monday Market in Plum.

The market will operate from 3 to 6 p.m. Mondays beginning June 5 through Sept. 25. It will be closed Sept. 4 for Labor Day.

This year, it will start at Plum Creek Park on New Texas Road, across from the former borough building.

The market eventually will move to the new municipal center on Old Mine Road at a later date, borough spokeswoman Carrie Lewis DelRosso said.

An outdoor amphitheater is under construction at the municipal center, and a combination splash pad and ice skating rink also is slated to be built there.

“The goal is once they have the splash pad done and the new developments, it will eventually move up there,” DelRosso said. “We want to be able to have the amphitheater and the splash pad ready to go so Plum residents are using it and attending the market at the same time.”

Vendors already lined up for the market include Bridge’s Farm, Sweets for the Street, Bentley’s Doggie Bistro, Pappy’s Kettle Corn, Tom’s Candy and Mary Jane’s Kitchen.

Jim Bridge said he and his wife, Kay, have been coming to the market since it started. Their 40-acre farm is on Leechburg Road.

Early on, they will have flowers, asparagus and maybe some lettuce, with more produce as it comes into season, he said.

“Eventually, it will be tomatoes, corn, peaches, green beans, zucchini, cantaloupes, watermelons, eggplant, peppers, squash, honey … all that eventually,” he said.

Vendors can join at any time during the season, DelRosso said.

Vendors interested in participating can contact event coordinator Mona Costanza at 412-795-6800 or mcostanza@plumboro.com or DelRosso at 412-562-1041.

Vendor applications must be sent to Costanza by email or at the municipal center. Vendors will be assigned a permanent spot for the season.

Vendors are allowed to set up beginning at 2 p.m. and must be ready 15 minutes before the start time. They are required to bring their own tents, tables and chairs. Vendors are advised to plan for any type of weather, as the market is held rain or shine.

The borough requires all vendors to secure tents with appropriate weights to prevent accidents. Vendors are responsible for cleanup of their own trash.
