Veteran local comedians to perform this weekend at Casino Theatre in Vandergrift
A night of comedy is coming to Vandergrift.
Professional comedian Shaun Blackham will headline a 90-minute show Saturday in the historic Casino Theatre.
Blackham, who lives in the Mamont section of Export, has opened for famous comedians, including Adam Sandler, Steven Wright, Tracy Morgan, Mitch Hedberg and Dave Attell.
“This is my hometown stomping grounds,” said Blackham, a Kiski Area High School alumnus.
Blackham began his comedy career in 1989, on open stage nights in Pittsburgh. He took the leap after a marriage engagement broke off and “I had a lifestyle change,” he said. “I just wanted to try it, and I’ve been hooked ever since.”
He still is a custom woodworker between his bookings.
The show’s opening act is David Michael, another Pittsburgh-based comedian who has performed with Jay Leno, Dennis Miller, Howie Mandel and Drew Carey.
Throughout his 30-year career, Blackham has performed what he calls “observational comedy.” The Vandergrift audience can expect a family-friendly show at the Casino.
“I keep it clean,” Blackham said. “This show will be like a TV-clean kind of show.”
Vandergrift has been on his venue list for a while.
“Vandergrift is trying to revitalize,” he said, and he’s happy to be performing at the Casino after months of it being closed during the pandemic.
