Veterans Day events open to the public throughout the Valley include:

Apollo

• The 18th annual Apollo Area Veterans Day Service will be at noon Thursday in Curran- Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 100 Owens View Ave. The Rev. Thomas Holmes, the Armstrong County American Legion Honor Guard, vocalist Angela Tucker and funeral directors Norman Connors and James A. Kunkle will participate. Details: 724-478-1244.

East Vandergrift

• A memorial ceremony and luminaria display will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Veterans Memorial Park.

Harrison

• Mount Airy Cemetery and Mausoleum will have a free flag ceremony to honor veterans at 11 a.m. Thursday at the cemetery, 2800 Old Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Veterans and their families welcome. Details: 724-224-0555.

Leechburg

• The Marconi Club in Leechburg will host a free spaghetti dinner for veterans and one guest from noon to 4 p.m. Thursday at the club, 135 River Ave. Veterans do not need to be a member of the club.

Lower Burrell

• The Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct a memorial service at 9:15 a.m. Thursday in Greenwood Memorial Park. A parade will begin at 11 a.m. at Schreiber Street and proceed down Leechburg Road to Wildlife Lodge Road. A memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars lodge.

New Kensington/Arnold

• The New Kensington/Arnold Joint Veterans Group will conduct a prayer service and wreath laying ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the monuments in Roosevelt Park, Arnold. The group will proceed to the Gold Star Mothers Monument on Ninth Street in New Kensington for a 10:30 a.m. prayer and wreath laying service and remarks from veterans and city officials. Springdale/ Springdale Township

• Springdale Veterans Assoc­iation will sponsor bells of peace and Veterans Day ceremonies at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Porter Street memorial at the corner of Pittsburgh and Porter streets. The group will go to Valley Gospel Church in the Orrville section of Springdale Township to rededicate the World War II Honor Roll plaque.

Tarentum

• Alle-Kiski Valley Historical Society Heritage Museum will present excerpts from the military veterans video series “Southwest Pennsylvania Goes to War” at 2 p.m. Thursday at the museum, 224 E. Seventh Ave. Masks are required, and social distancing will be observed. Attendance is limited to the first 30 attendees. Vandergrift

• A service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Casino Theatre. A dinner for veterans will be at 5:30 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 141-143 Sumner Ave. Reservations are required by Tuesday. Reservations: VFW, 724-568-1427, or the American Legion, 724-568-2337
