Santa is expected to make his return to Plum in December for the fifth annual Christmas at Plum Creek.

Volunteers are wanted for the fifth annual Christmas at Plum Creek.

The borough event is scheduled for 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 3 in Plum Creek Park along New Texas Road.

There will be a tree lighting ceremony with a likely visit from Santa, food trucks and caroling.

Plum officials still are finalizing plans and a vendor list.

Borough Manager Mike Thomas said they are working with Plum School District officials to possibly have the high school jazz ensemble and chorus perform.

Activities at previous holiday celebrations included ice sculpting, horse-drawn carriage rides, live reindeer, crafts and games.

The event usually draws thousands of people to Plum.

Council President Dave Odom said safety precautions will be in place to ensure attendees have a happy and healthy holiday experience during the covid-19 pandemic.

“(This year) has been somewhat of a dismal year when it comes to everything that’s going on, especially related to the events of covid,” he said. “We really wanted to try to provide venues for people to get out of their homes and participate in something that gives them the opportunity to think about something other than the events of 2020.”

Plum hosted an extended Movies in the Park series and a Halloween movie night at Larry Mills Park, along with a socially distanced Fall Fest at Plum Creek Park this year.

“We’re hoping that Christmas in the park is just going to be a culmination of all those events where the residents can come out and celebrate Christmas ringing out 2020 and ushering in 2021,” Odom said. “We want to be able to put on something that folks can enjoy with their families.”
