Washington Township police investigating crash that killed resident
Washington Township police don’t know what caused a man to lose control of his car, resulting in a crash that claimed his life Sunday.
Nolan E. Young, 39, of Washington Township died after a one-vehicle crash on Route 366 at Francis Drive. Police Chief Scott Slagle said the crash happened about 6:30 p.m.
According to Slagle, Young was driving a 2017 Corvette east on Route 366 when he lost control near Francis Drive. The car hit a cement drainage culvert and a tree.
Young was taken to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, where he died, Slagle said.
Young was traveling by himself. Slagle said Young was not wearing a seat belt.
No other vehicles were involved, and there were no known eyewitnesses to the crash, which Slagle said a nearby resident reported after hearing the impact.
Slagle said it was not known how fast Young had been traveling. Police do not believe he had been drinking.
Slagle said police are continuing to investigate.
According to Young’s obituary, he was a former resident of Plum and Monroeville.
Jobe Funeral Home & Crematory, 445 Beatty Road in Monroeville, is handling arrangements for Young.
Visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A service will follow visitation Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be private.
