A supervisor position is available in Washington Township.
Supervisor Scott M. Held, who ran for the position unopposed and served in the post for six months, submitted his letter of resignation July 14 during the last supervisors’ meeting.
In the letter, Held said he was moving out of the township.
“He resigned because they (the Helds) sold their house and found something that was outside of the township. You can only be a supervisor if you reside in the township,” said Lynn Stascak, township secretary/treasurer and administrator. Held was not available for comment.
Supervisors Rich Gardner and Joe Olszewski remain on the board.
“We’re looking for someone to help oversee the operation of the township and the health, welfare and safety of residents,” Olszewski said.
Supervisors are paid $2,500 annually.
The deadline to apply is Aug. 5.
The new supervisor’s term will run through Jan. 1, 2024.
Applicants must have resided in the township for a minimum of one year.
The two remaining supervisors hope to appoint a new colleague at their Aug. 8 meeting. They will conduct the interviews.
