It’s looking like it will be a busy summer of paving for Washington Township, as 34 streets will be part of the seal coat project.
Supervisors on May 12 awarded a nearly $396,000 contract to Russell Standard Corp. for the seal coating work. The only other bidder was Youngblood Paving, which submitted a $401,000 bid.
The project will consist of the following streets:
• Beatty, Orchard, Ray, Lily and Fourth streets;
• Hilltop, King Arthur, Camelot, Edgewood, Townsend, Hunt Valley, Kiskiminetas, Highview, Ridge, Muffley, Donna, Blueberry, Stewart, Meadowview, Francis, Dwel Mar and Pleasant Valley drives;
• Pine Run Church, Woodland, Old Mill, Old Bell Point, Zubal, Beighley, Watson (from Pine Run to the township line), Gill (2,640 feet in from Crestview Dr.) and Walker (Route 380 to Fox Road) roads.
Strawberry Lane, Ford Hand Trail, Hunt Valley Circle, the municipal building driveway and the Kunkle Park parking lot are also included.
Supervisors also voted to table bids for the Poke Run Church culvert replacement project. Among the six bidders, Protocol LLC has the lowest bid at nearly $363,000, while W.A. Petrakis Construction has the highest at almost $475,500.
Officials said the bids were all higher than anticipated and that they will seek alternative plans.
