A home at 350 Poplar St. in West Deer sustained damage after a fire damaged a top-floor bedroom early Saturday. Firefighters from West Deer Volunteer Fire Company No. 3 said the fire started around 3 a.m., according to the company’s Facebook post. The cause of the fire was under investigation.

The fire was contained to the bedroom according to the homeowner, Jon Ott. Ott said there were no injuries but damage to the home from heavy smoke. He was not sure how the fire started.

“It’s a mess. I’m going to win for (having) the most garbage this week,” Ott said with a chuckle after he removed damaged items from the home. He indicated he and his family will remain in the house.
