West Hills Intermediate School in Kittanning evacuated after smoke reported in computer room

Students at West Hills Intermediate School in Kittanning were evacuated from the building after smoke and the smell of burning rubber was reported in a computer room, according to authorities.

Student were placed on a bus and taken to nearby West Hills Primary while firefighters set up operations at the intermediate school building located along Heritage Park Drive.

The incident was reported at 1:55 p.m., according to an Armstrong County 911 supervisor.

Firefighters on the roof’s building reported finding an overheated heating system component but no flames.

Crews cleared firefighting operations shortly before 2:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

Students were being taken back to the intermediate school for dismissal, according to a school official.
