West Deer police charged a man with sexually assaulting a woman after a party at her friend’s house, where he was living as a roommate.

Dominic J. Richards, 27, of the 1200 block of Logan Road in West Deer was charged with four misdemeanor counts of indecent assault, according to court records. He faces a preliminary hearing Nov. 16 before District Judge Tom Swan.

A 24-year-old woman reported to police that the assault occurred while she and her boyfriend were attending an Oct. 2 party at a friend’s home along Glasgow Road.

The woman told police that she and her boyfriend planned to stay the night because they were drinking and that Richards offered his room, telling them he would find another place to sleep, according to a complaint complaint filed in the case.

Richards was evicted from the residence after the alleged incident, police said.

The woman said she was asleep alone in the bed until she awoke to Richards molesting her, the complaint said.

She said Richards jumped out of the bed and ran from the room, police said.

The woman said she ran out out of the room “frantically” to tell the other party guests what happened and injured her leg while running up steps, the complaint said. Bruising from the injury was photographed by investigators, police said.

Two of the woman’s friends told police they checked on her before the alleged assault and found her asleep alone in Richards’ bedroom, the complaint said.

They told police Richards was sleeping on a sofa in another room with the door closed, but they could hear him snoring, the complaint said.

They said they checked the room after the alleged assault, and it was empty with the door open, according to the complaint.
