A Natrona Heights woman was taken to a hospital in stable condition Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle in Tarentum.

The 80-year-old woman was transported to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, according to Tarentum police. Police did not release her name.

Police said the woman was in a crosswalk when she was struck by a passenger car turning left from East Sixth Avenue onto Wood Street at about 8:45 p.m.

The woman was struck by the car’s side mirror and suffered a head injury when she fell, according to police.

Eureka Fire-Rescue-EMS Deputy Fire Chief Brad James said the pedestrian was alert when medics and police responded.

James said he could not comment further about possible injuries.

An updated condition for the woman wasn’t available on Friday.

Tarentum police noted the collision is under investigation and could not say if the driver of the car might face charges.

Brackenridge police assisted with traffic control.

Emergency responders cleared the scene around 9:10 p.m.
