Allegheny Township’s River Forest Country Club will participate Tuesday in the fourth annual Women’s Golf Day by holding a scramble and luncheon featuring former LPGA golfer Missie Berteotti.

Women’s Golf Day events will be held at more than 900 venues in 52 countries in conjunction with International Women’s Day, according to a River Forest news release.

“We expect more than 50,000 females worldwide will mark the day by further developing the skills to enjoy golf for their lifetimes,” River Forest co-owner Andi Irwin said in the release.

The release said that the local event carries added significance because earlier this year River Forest became the first Pennsylvania golf course to be majority-owned by women. Irwin and Jamy Rankin are majority owners.

The scramble is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and be followed by a luncheon at which Berteotti will speak. Berteotti, an Upper St. Clair graduate, played on the LPGA Tour for 14 years and notched one Tour victory and still plays occasionally on the Senior Tour.

It costs $50 to take part in the scramble and luncheon, and $30 to attend just the luncheon. Reservations can be made online at www.riverforestgolf.com or by calling 724 295 2298.
