Warrants issued for man accused of breaking into, stealing from Pittsburgh area businesses
An Aliquippa man is wanted in connection with a recent string of burglaries in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside and Lawrenceville neighborhoods, officials announced Thursday.
Michael Moffett, 33, faces multiple charges including burglary, criminal mischief and theft from a motor vehicle.
Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson Cara Cruz said Moffett is believed to have been involved in break-ins in Shadyside that occurred overnight Aug. 25-26.
Cruz reported three businesses along the 800 block of South Aiken were either broken into or vandalized, with items stolen from two of them.
One business along the 700 block of Copeland Street had its door shattered, items taken and cash stolen from a register.
A fifth business along the 5400 block of Walnut Street also had its glass door broken and cash register drawer stolen.
Police also accuse Moffett of being involved in burglaries between the 3500 and 4100 blocks of Butler Street in Lawrenceville overnight Aug. 27-28.
Cruz said three businesses had their front doors shattered. Two had their cash drawers emptied and a third had a cash drawer stolen.
One business was broken into and a safe ransacked, however, nothing was reported missing, Cruz reported.
A fifth business had its front door tampered with, but no entry was made.
Anyone with information about Moffett’s whereabouts should contact Pittsburgh Police at 412-323-7800.
