1 covid-related death added in Westmoreland, 38 new cases in 2 days

After going 28 straight days without any covid-related deaths, Westmoreland County has seen two in the past five days.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported one new death in the county Monday, bringing the total to 51 since the pandemic began in March.

The state’s report also added 38 new coronavirus cases — 22 on Sunday, 16 on Monday — for a total of 2,084 cases.

Of the latest cases, all but three are confirmed.

According to the state’s covid-19 tracking website, there is currently one county resident hospitalized on a ventilator for the virus. According to the state, there are a total of 88 ventilators in the county, with seven (8%) currently in use for all illnesses.
