State health officials reported one new coronavirus case in Westmoreland County on Tuesday as the statewide total neared 58,000.

County coroner Ken Bacha’s death count remained at 32, while the state’s data — which has lagged behind county reporting throughout the pandemic — lists the death toll at 30.

The one new case brings the county’s running total to 419 since the first positive test on April 5.

Statewide, the death toll rose by 75 to a total of 3,806. The 837 covid-19 cases reported between 12 a.m. Monday and 12 a.m. Tuesday pushed the state’s running tally to 57,991.

Westmoreland County has seen 134 cases of the virus in nine of its long-term care facilities, according to state data. Twenty-seven residents have died, and 34 employees have contracted the virus.
