One patient was airlifted to an area hospital following a motorcycle crash in West Newton on Tuesday afternoon.

Westmoreland County 911 officials said the crash involving a motorcycle and a tri-axle truck was reported around 3:45 p.m., near the intersection of Route 136 and Thelma Drive in West Newton.

“From what I understand, (the motorcyclist) came around the bend and there was a’ semi‘ coming up the hill,” said West Newton Fire Chief Craig Sanner. “Looks like he tried to swerve and miss it, which he did, and then dumped the bike.”
