One more resident and a staff member at Westmoreland Manor tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday, according to county Commissioner Doug Chew.
That brings the total number of affected residents to 83, about a quarter of the population.
The Pennsylvania National Guard was brought in last month to take over testing for virus infections while staff members focus on patient care. The first positive cases came in mid-September at the Hempfield facility. The first person to test positive at the manor was a nurse from a contract service.
The county-owned nursing home houses 336 residents and a staff of more than 400. Twenty-eight staffers have tested positive. Residents who have tested positive are being housed in a separate wing.
Between Thursday and Friday, 31 new cases were added.
Employees there are getting extra pay as the virus total increases. The pay will start from the date the first resident was found to have the virus until 14 days after the most recent positive resident.
The 408-bed nursing home had no reported cases of coronavirus among residents before last month. Four employees, including two administrators, tested positive prior to the current outbreak.
