A 102-year-old woman from Avonmore was killed after a driver ran a red light Friday along Route 22 in Burrell Township.
The Indiana County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman as Mary Lutz.
The vehicle in which Lutz was a passenger made a left turn out of Resort Plaza around 4 p.m., according to a news release from state police. It had a green light.
At the same time, another vehicle heading east on Route 22 went through a red light and collided with Lutz’s vehicle, police said.
The vehicle traveling along the highway overturned from the force of the impact. The one Lutz was in spun 180 degrees.
Lutz was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center, where she later died.
The person driving Lutz was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital. Another passenger was taken to Forbes Hospital.
The driver of the other vehicle ended up with minor cuts and bruises.
