A Hempfield man is behind bars after Greensburg police said he led them on a chase earlier this month with speeds reaching 120 mph, according to court papers.

Ty David Greenawalt, 19, was charged Tuesday with a number of offenses, including fleeing from police, reckless endangerment and summary traffic violations.

Greensburg police said they spotted a silver Ford F-150 late on Dec. 20 with damage to the front end and no headlights traveling on Main Street. The pickup fled a traffic stop and continued on Route 119 through Youngwood to Toll Route 66 north and Route 130 in Hempfield with speeds ranging between 70 mph and 120 mph, police said in court papers.

The pickup cut off other motorists, weaved through traffic and ran red lights, according to the report. The chase was called off when the pickup went the wrong way on Toll Route 66. About 30 minutes later, state police pulled the same truck over on Route 30 in North Huntingdon after a pursuit.

Troopers filed similar charges and Greenawalt has been jailed since Dec. 21 on $15,000 bail in that case. Greenawalt was denied bail Tuesday in the case filed by Greensburg police. Preliminary hearings are set for next month. Greenawalt did not have an attorney listed in online court records.

He has not been arraigned on fleeing charges filed by Monroeville police stemming from an incident there Dec. 20, according to court records.
