Two people were hurt, one seriously, after a car ran a red light last week on Route 30 in Unity and crashed into another vehicle, according to state police.

Robert S. Mayer, 55, of Jeannette, was driving an Infiniti I30 east just before 11 p.m. Wednesday when he ran a red light at the intersection with Route 981, police said. The car hit a Toyota Camry that was turning onto Route 981. Mayer was taken to AHN Forbes Hospital in Monroeville for treatment of what troopers described in a news release issued Tuesday as minor injuries.

His passenger, Emily L. Hamborsky, 26, of Connellsville, was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. She had serious injuries, police said.

The driver of the other car, Amber L. Dreistadt, 20, of Hostetter, refused treatment at the scene.
