Two men were killed in a head-on collision on Route 56 in St. Clair Township on Friday afternoon, according to the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office.

The victims were identified as Robert A. Deemer, 36, of Johnstown, and Gerald E. McGeary, 84, of Seward. The coroner said both men died of blunt force injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene at 3 p.m.

The crash occurred when Deemer’s eastbound Dodge Ram crossed the centerline of the highway about one-half mile east of Laurel Ridge State Park and collided with a westbound Chrysler 300 driven by McGeary, according to the coroner’s new release.

Neither man was wearing a seat belt, the coroner said.

Two other people injured in the crash were taken to a Johnstown hospital, the coroner said. They were not identified.

State police at Greensburg investigated the fatal accident, but had not issued a news release as of Saturday morning.
