What police say was a fatal dose of heroin sold to a Latrobe man in July came with a warning: “be careful,” according to a state grand jury presentment.

That disclaimer was made by Kyle Douglas Clem, 28, of Derry Township, and Michael Lilliock, 34, of West Newton, both of whom were arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of John Sessi Jr., 29. Agents from the state attorney general’s office accuse Clem and Lilliock of being part of the supply chain that got a bag of heroin in Sessi’s hands on July 28, according to court papers.

Clem and Lilliock were being held at the Westmoreland County Prison on $200,000 bail each.

A state grand jury said that Sessi contacted Clem to purchase heroin in the parking lot of the Derry Ukranian Club and the exchange was seen on surveillance video. Sessi later was found unresponsive in a bathroom and died at a hospital from acute combined drug toxicity of heroin and fentanyl, police said.

Clem told the grand jury he purchased 10 stamp bags from Lilliock at the Boot Scoot’n Saloon in Sewickley Township and kept four for himself, selling the rest to Sessi, according to court papers. Clem was warned by Lilliock of the power of the drugs, and Clem passed along that message to Sessi, police said.

“After Clem sold the bags to Sessi, Clem contacted him multiple times to see if he was all right,” the grand jury wrote. “However, he received no response. Clem learned of Sessi’s death a short time thereafter.”

Clem and Lilliock are charged with drug delivery resulting in death and drug delivery.
