Two people were flown by medical helicopter following a multi-car crash in Salem, according to Westmoreland emergency officials.

Fire and paramedics were called to the intersection of Route 819 and Bowman Road just after 3 p.m. for a two-vehicle crash, according to a Westmoreland 911 supervisor.

Landing zones were set up to transport two patients. The extent of their injuries was not immediately available.

Route 819 in the area of Bowman Road reopened to traffic around 4:30 p.m., emergency officials said.
