The fire was reported shortly before midnight at a home in the 1000 block of State Street, according to Westmoreland County emergency dispatchers.

A man jumped out of a window to escape flames and firefighters entered the house to rescue a woman who was trapped inside, according to Tribune-Review news partners WPXI-TV. Authorities told the TV station that a dog died in the fire.

It took about an hour for firefighters to get the blaze under control, according to authorities.
