3 accused in Rostraver armed robbery
A Pittsburgh woman and two Maryland brothers were charged Tuesday in connection with an armed robbery in Rostraver.
A female clerk at the Marathon gas station on Route 51 reported to township police at 9:15 p.m. on Aug. 3 that a man pointed a sawed-off shotgun at her and demanded money. Police said she put $841 in a backpack the suspect was wearing on his chest and he fled.
The clerk told officers that a man and woman came into the convenience store moments before the robbery, according to court papers.
Investigators used surveillance video of the incident and a vehicle associated with it to track down the suspects who are accused in an armed robbery spree that authorities said spanned three counties.
Rexford Enoch Wright, 23, of Hagerstown, Md., was identified as the robbery suspect in the Rostraver incident, according to court papers. Kara Rose Guy, 22, of Pittsburgh, and Elijah Alvin Sayon, 23, of Hagerstown, Md., were identified by police as the pair who allegedly came inside the convenience store before the robbery.
Police said the suspects were seen in surveillance video getting in and out of a Chrysler Pacifica, which was registered to Sayon. That piece of information led township police to connect similar robberies in Monessen on Aug. 3 and Allegheny County the following day, according to court papers.
On Aug. 5, police arrested the trio after finding the vehicle in Swissvale.
Guy told police about the Monessen and Rostraver robberies and that they counted the money afterwards, according to court papers. In the Chrysler Pacifica, authorities found the gun and backpack. The trio is facing conspiracy, robbery, theft and related offenses in connection with the Rostraver case. They did not have attorneys listed in online court records.
Charges were filed against all three in the Monessen case and only Sayon and Wright are accused of involvement in a Kennedy robbery. Wright is charged in a fourth robbery on Aug. 4 in Monongahela, according to online court records.
They are being held in Westmoreland County Prison after failing to post bond.
